World Youth Day, Sydney 2008

Arrival in Sydney

with 3 comments

The 19 pilgrims traveling with me arrived this morning in Sydney.  We patiently waited in the airport while the travel agency picked us up.  We sat on the floor of the airport and enjoyed a McDonald’s lunch.  (I had a salad! 😉

All the pilgrims from San Antonio will now be together.  They will be housed at a primary school not far from the center of Sydney.  There are a host of activities for the pilgrims, starting tomorrow, including concerts, catecheses (given by bishops), thematic talks by various Catholic speakers, etc.  So our pilgrims will have plenty of opportunities for learning, growth, and inspiritation.

Keep us in your prayers, that this might be truly a time of grace for our young pilgrims from San Antonio!

By the way, the weather is spectacular in Sydney!  Thank goodness.

  1. Bishop Cantu’s mother, Maria, is my first cousin and I have been following the postings on this blog since I learned about the SA pilgrims heading down under to participate in WYD 2008. It is indeed very uplifting to see so many young people from all corners of the world come together. Our Earth’s future – physically and spiritually – is in their hands and events such as WYD (unlike so many others) give me cause for optimism. Bishop Cantu is truly a spiritual person with an enviable ability to relate to our young people. May God continue to bless the group (and all WYD attendees).

  3. G’Day San Antonio Pilgrims!
We are glad to hear all is going well. We’re keeping you in our prayers.

To Fr. Jimmy and the gang from St.Joseph – Honey Creek, we miss you bunches! Sunday after the Life Teen Mass the back of the church was buzzing with all the stories from your families. It sounds awesome! We wish you many blessings. See you soon.
